A certain smart home enterprise has long faced the problem of counterfeit appearance design and plagiarism of core functions in the research and development of smart door lock series products. The smart door lock designed by the company, with its minimalist appearance and innovative features such as fingerprint recognition and remote control, has achieved an annual sales volume of over 100000 sets. However, due to insufficient intellectual property protection, a large number of counterfeit products have appeared in the market, with a similarity of 95% in appearance. After the fingerprint recognition algorithm was cracked, it was sold at a low price, resulting in a loss of 20% of the company's customers and an annual sales loss of over 18 million yuan.

After our intervention, we formulated a collaborative protection plan of "appearance copyright+functional patent". In terms of design protection, assist enterprises in registering copyright for the design of 8 core products, and apply for design patents for 3 unique designs, forming a dual protection of "copyright+patent". At the same time, establish a design traceability system and use blockchain technology to verify the design process documents, collecting a complete evidence chain for rights protection. In response to counterfeit appearance products in the market, we assisted companies in carrying out rights protection actions, sent lawyer letters to 15 infringing companies, successfully stopped 12 infringement behaviors, and recovered losses of 5 million yuan.

In terms of functional technology protection, patent layout has been carried out for core functions such as fingerprint recognition algorithm and remote control module of smart door locks, assisting enterprises in completing 15 patent applications, including 8 invention patents covering key technologies, including core patents such as "a fingerprint recognition method based on multimodal fusion" and "remote security control device for smart door locks". We assisted the enterprise in upgrading its technical solution and applying for new patents for the cracked algorithm, while also filing an infringement lawsuit, and ultimately obtained a compensation of 3 million yuan.

In addition, we establish an intellectual property management system for enterprises, standardize processes such as design and development, patent application, and copyright registration, and conduct employee training to enhance protection awareness. After one year of project implementation, the incidence of corporate appearance infringement has decreased by 90%, and the phenomenon of functional technology plagiarism has been basically eliminated. Through intellectual property protection, the product's market recognition has significantly improved, with a 20 place increase in search rankings on e-commerce platforms, 50 new distributors added, annual sales increased by 150 million yuan, and brand influence continued to expand.
