High value patent layout of aviation component enterprises, key technology protection helps breakthrough in high-end market

A certain aviation component manufacturing enterprise is facing the problems of insufficient protection of core technologies and difficult access to high-end markets in the research and development of aircraft engine blades. The titanium alloy engine blades developed by the company have been improved in service life by 30% through material formulation and structural design innovation. However, due to scattered patent layouts, only 5 utility model patents have been applied for, and the core material formulation, molding process and other technologies have not been effectively protected. When applying for civil aviation airworthiness certification and entering the international supply chain, the lack of "independent and controllable technical proof" has hindered the expansion of the high-end market.

After our intervention, we conducted in-depth patent mining on engine blade technology, identified 7 core innovation points including material formula, structural design, and molding process, and developed a high-value patent cultivation plan. Assisted enterprises in completing 28 patent applications, including 20 invention patents forming a tight protection network, including core patents such as "a high-temperature resistant titanium alloy blade material formula" and "precision forging process for engine blades". Some patents have also entered target markets such as the United States and the European Union through PCT channels, obtaining international patent protection.

To improve the quality of patents, we assist enterprises in collaborating with universities to conduct patent analysis, optimize the layout of claims, enhance patent stability and protection scope. In terms of patent application, guide enterprises to incorporate core patents into technical manuals as technical support materials for airworthiness certification, and successfully pass the airworthiness certification of the Civil Aviation Administration of China. In the international market expansion, relying on independent patents to prove technological independence, we have established cooperation with two international aviation companies to achieve breakthroughs in the high-end market.

After the implementation of the project, the number of high-value patents of the enterprise increased from 3 to 15, and the patent portfolio coverage reached 98%, effectively protecting the core technology. After passing airworthiness certification, the product entered the supply chain of mainstream domestic airlines, with an annual sales increase of 280 million yuan. The international patent layout has also brought overseas orders of 30 million US dollars to the enterprise, occupying a place in the high-end market of aviation components and fully reflecting the value of technological innovation.
