
A precision measuring instrument manufacturing enterprise has long been facing problems of product appearance design being plagiarized and supporting software being cracked. The enterprise has core advantages in the field of optical measuring instruments. Its independently designed instruments have a unique appearance and are easy to operate. The supporting measurement data analysis software has an accuracy of 0.001mm. However, due to weak awareness of copyright protection, the appearance design and software have not been systematically registered and protected. In the past three years, there have been a large number of counterfeit products on the market with a similarity of over 90% in appearance. The accompanying software has been illegally cracked and sold at low prices, resulting in a loss of 15% of enterprise customers and an annual loss of sales revenue exceeding 30 million yuan.
After our intervention, we first conducted a comprehensive inventory of the company's copyright assets and found three major problems: the appearance design was not registered for copyright and patent application, the software source code was not encrypted, and the employees' awareness of copyright protection was weak. We have developed a comprehensive protection plan for "appearance design+software copyright+trade secrets" to address these pain points.
In terms of design protection, we assisted enterprises in registering copyright for the design of 5 core products and applied for design patents for 3 unique designs, forming a dual protection of "copyright+patent". At the same time, establish a system for managing design archives, and use blockchain technology to fully document the creative process of design sketches, renderings, and modification records, providing sufficient evidence for safeguarding rights.
In terms of software protection, guide enterprises to register the copyright of 8 core measurement software, encrypt and segment the source code, and clarify the confidentiality obligations of developers. In response to the cracked software, we assisted the company in fixing the evidence of infringement and filed lawsuits against two major infringing companies. Eventually, a settlement was reached, and the infringing companies stopped selling and compensated for a loss of 5 million yuan.
In addition, we provide copyright protection training for enterprises, establish infringement monitoring mechanisms, and regularly inspect e-commerce platforms and offline markets. After the implementation of the project, the incidence of copyright infringement disputes among enterprises decreased by 85%, and the protection period was shortened from an average of 12 months to 4 months. Through copyright protection, the recognition of enterprise products has significantly improved, and they have gained the advantage of "design innovation" points in bidding. They have added more than 30 new customers, increased annual sales by 120 million yuan, and software licensing revenue has increased by 60%.
