
A certain heavy machinery manufacturing enterprise is facing the dilemma of core technology being copied and market share being eroded in the research and development of large-scale mining equipment. The "Intelligent Open pit Mining Excavator Automatic Control System" developed by the company has achieved a 25% increase in operating efficiency and an 18% reduction in energy consumption. However, due to scattered patent layouts in the early stages, only 6 utility model patents have been applied for, and core technologies such as intelligent control algorithms and hydraulic system optimization have not been effectively protected. In less than two years, three competing companies launched similar functional products in the market, resulting in a 30% decline in sales of similar products and direct economic losses exceeding 50 million yuan.
After our intervention, we first conducted a comprehensive technical disassembly of the control system. Through in-depth communication with the R&D team and frontline engineers, we identified 19 innovative points in 8 core modules, including intelligent perception algorithm, adaptive hydraulic control, and remote fault diagnosis. In response to the shortcomings of patent layout, a three-layer patent protection strategy of "core technology+peripheral technology+application scenarios" has been formulated to assist enterprises in completing 32 patent applications, including 21 invention patents covering key technologies, including core patents such as "a multi-sensor fusion based excavator operating environment recognition method" and "adaptive adjustment device for large mechanical hydraulic systems", forming a complete patent chain from technical principles to production applications.
To strengthen patent protection, we assisted companies in conducting patent infringement analysis on three competing companies and found that two of their products fell within the scope of core patent protection. By sending legal letters and conducting negotiations, we successfully reached patent licensing agreements with these two companies, earning a licensing fee of 12 million yuan and preventing further sales of infringing products. In response to the malicious infringement behavior of the third company, we assisted the company in filing a patent infringement lawsuit and ultimately obtained a compensation of 8 million yuan.
After one year of project implementation, the coverage rate of enterprise patent protection increased from 28% to 95%, effectively building a technological barrier. In the subsequent bidding process, the enterprise successfully won three large-scale mining equipment procurement projects with a total contract amount of 850 million yuan, leveraging its patent advantage of "independent and controllable core technology". The protection of core patents has increased the premium ability of enterprise products by 15%, increased annual sales by 230 million yuan, and regained market dominance. The company leader stated, "The patent layout of the system not only protects innovative achievements, but also becomes a 'weapon' for us to explore the market
