Planning the layout of international patent papers for new energy enterprises, achieving simultaneous overseas market expansion and technological influence
Case detail

A certain new energy enterprise has made significant breakthroughs in the research and development of solid-state battery electrolyte materials and plans to enter the European and American markets, but faces challenges such as a lack of international patent layout and insufficient international recognition of academic achievements. The "sulfide based solid electrolyte" developed by the company has a room temperature conductivity exceeding 10 ⁻ S/cm and a cycling stability of over 2000 times, but has only applied for 5 patents domestically and has not been internationally deployed; The published papers are all in Chinese journals and lack international peer recognition, resulting in insufficient technical credibility in overseas client cooperation negotiations.

We have formed an international intellectual property and academic services team to develop an internationalization plan of "patent first+paper follow-up". In terms of patent layout, based on target market analysis, it was determined to enter 12 countries and regions including the United States, the European Union, and Japan through the PCT pathway. For core technologies such as electrolyte material formulation, preparation process, and interface modification, patent application documents that meet international examination standards were written, with a focus on strengthening the clarity of claims and the rationality of protection scope. Ultimately, 18 international patent authorizations were obtained, including 5 US patents and 4 European patents.

In terms of internationalization of academic papers, the R&D team was guided to translate the core technological innovation points into three English papers, adjust the research expression according to the preferences of international journal reviewers, highlight comparative data and mechanism analysis with existing technologies, one of which was published in Energy and Environmental Science (impact factor 39.7), and cited the international patent publication of the enterprise as technical support in the paper, enhancing the verifiability of the research. At the same time, assist enterprises in giving keynote speeches at international solid-state battery academic conferences, showcasing patented technologies and paper achievements, and enhancing international industry influence.

Through the collaborative layout of international patents and papers, the company successfully broke through overseas technological barriers and signed a technology cooperation agreement with a European automotive group, obtaining a patent licensing fee of 2 million euros; Solid state battery products have successfully entered the European and American markets, with an annual export value of 150 million yuan. The international publication of academic papers has attracted cooperation intentions from three international research institutions, promoting the establishment of overseas joint research and development centers for enterprises, laying a solid foundation for sustained international technological competition, and achieving an average annual growth rate of 45% in international market share.
